Printer Driver Exception 0xc0000005 (32bit only)

Last Updated: Jun 11, 2015 03:54PM CDT
A user chooses the Printing Preferences, Preferences, or Printing Defaults dialogs multiple times during configuration of the Contentverse Printer Driver - without closing the Contentverse Printer Driver Properties dialog in between.
Replication of issue:

1.) Right-click on the Contentverse Printer Driver and choose Properties.

2.) Press the Printing Preferences... button.

3.) Press the OK or Apply button.

4.) Press the Printing Preferences... button a second time.

This will produce the error dialog, and render the Contentverse Printer Driver inoperable.

Solution: Remove the Printer from 'Printers and Faxes', reboot the computer, clean up the driver installation, re-install the driver.

1.) From the Printers and Faxes interface, right-click on the Contentverse Printer Driver and choose Delete.

2.) Press the Yes button in the 'Are you sure...' dialog.

3.) Reboot the Computer.

4.) Using Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3 folder.
Note: This path may vary depending on Windows OS.

5.) Locate and delete the following files:
STDNAMES.GPD

UNIDRV.DLL

UNIDRV.HLP

UNIDRVUI.DLL

UNIRES.DLL

All files matching CV*.*

IMPORTANT: It is possible other printer drivers installed on the system will use this same path, and may share some of the components with Contentverse. If other files are present in the folder, it is recommended that you relocate or backup these files prior to deletion.

6.) Re-install the Contentverse Printer Driver from the installation media.

Proper usage to avoid the error:

1.) Right-click on the Contentverse Printer Driver and choose Properties.

2.) Press the Printing Preferences... button.

3.) Make changes as necessary.

4.) Press the OK or Apply button.

5.) Press the OK button to exit the Printing Preferences dialog.

6.) Repeat steps 1-5 if additional setting changes are desired.

Note: Only Applies to 32 bit versions of the Contentverse Print Driver
